South of the Surface Dive Shop was the creation of long time diver Joseph Fryer and his wife, Joanne.  Joe discovered the underwater world in 1988 and has been in love with the sport ever since!  He quickly decided, that he had to share this new and exciting world with others, so naturally he became a PADI Instructor. 

In May 1998, South of the Surface opened the doors in downtown Owen Sound.  

Since the shop has opened, life has been busy.   Joe and Jo have three kids, have changed careers, moved to Owen Sound (to the current location), are greatly involved in Owen Sound Minor Soccer, boating and other activies. 

As you can imagine, and I'm sure you can relate,  diving had slowed down a little bit lol.   That being said,  the itch to get back in the water is back.   Keep in touch to learn about Joe's group dives!!!
